Garn Fadryn – A Peaceful Climb with Panoramic Views

On Friday we ticked off another Welsh Marilyn – this time the iconic Garn Fadryn on the Llŷn Peninsula.
Although only a short walk, Garn Fadryn packs in everything you’d want from a hike: peaceful paths, a steady climb, and sweeping views across the whole peninsula once you reach the summit. It’s one of those hills that proves you don’t always need to spend hours walking to feel like you’ve had a real mountain experience.
The route up is straightforward, winding gently before the final push to the top. Along the way, there’s plenty of space to pause and take in the changing scenery – rolling fields below, the sea stretching out on both sides, and the familiar outline of other peaks waiting in the distance.
At the summit, we were rewarded with a panoramic view across Eryri and the Llŷn, the sort that makes you stop, breathe, and simply enjoy the stillness. On a clear day, it feels like you can see the whole world from up there – from Bardsey Island at the western tip, to Yr Wyddfa massif towering inland.
Best of all, it was quiet. Just the sound of the breeze and a few birds calling – the kind of peace that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Another Welsh Marilyn pinned off the pinboard, and a reminder of why the smaller, lesser-known hills are every bit as special as the giants.
